This is probably pretty pointless because my readership is so small, but I figured it’s worth a shot.
I’ve been waiting in anticipation of Blog Reader Project results for a blog I read, one with a muuuuch larger readership than my own. The results finally came out today and I was fascinated with the results.
So I signed up for my own Blog Reader Project survey. If you want to, take it. My understanding is that you can stop at any point — it’s really long, but if you stick with it you get to answer questions about tattoos and booze. I promise to share the results link with you when the survey closes.
(Has anyone set up one of these for the Kansas blog community at large? If so, I’d love to participate.)

It was time.
A couple months ago, I spent an evening working on a bright, springy blog template. It was cute. It was frustrating. As much as I fussed with it, it wasn’t what I wanted. And it was very late and I was looking through old photographs in search of inspiration.
I kept pausing when I came to a certain photo. It was old, and I wanted something newer, but still, it kept catching my eye. It was from the first roll of film taken on my trip to California when I was 18.
I remember sitting alone in my parents’ house, anxious because my bags were packed but it wasn’t time to leave yet. And I took that picture in the mirror on the door to my dad’s closet. I felt like I was taking a “before” shot. I was going to jet off to this new life of adventure and sophistication, and I even knew how wide-eyed and naive I was being. I remember being pissed when my plane was a couple hours late because, dammit American Airlines, you’re delaying my journey into adulthood.
I’d like to think even if I don’t know much now, at least I know more. What I do know is that I’m nowhere close to taking the “after” portrait. So I’m sticking with that picture for now.

I was bored and looking at my site stats, which is a pretty good indicator of how bored I was. Some interesting things about my readership (based on the last 5 weeks’ worth of data):
Browsers:
- Firefox: 58%
- Internet Explorer: 30%
- Safari: 11%
- Other: <1%
OS:
- Windows: 85%
- Macintosh: 14%
- Other: <1%
Ha! And it doesn’t count my hits, so I’m not even contributing to all those Mac/Safari page views.

I updated my 100 Things list. Most items are new, most old ones have been updated.
And I’m contemplating a redesign.

New theme for the site. I call it ribbons.
It came to me in a dream. Okay, it looked a lot better in the dream.
I’m still tweaking it.
I haven’t had the chance to check it in IE/Win yet since I don’t have a PC yet. Sadly it seems most of you (n00bs!) are still using Internet Explorer so, uh, sucks to be you.
(And no, I haven’t died. My bathroom is trying to kill me, though, and I think it’s got the upper hand at the moment.)

My boss took me out to lunch. The restaurant had Pepsi, not Coke. Apparently my body knows the difference between the two. It’s punishing me with a migraine.
This was the week I was going to quit drinking Diet Coke. Again. For real this time, maybe. But I think I prefer being a slave to the addiction over the withdrawal.
I miss my Diet Coke.

This summer, I have an internship near Wichita.
So for the summer (and hopefully never again), I’m living in the parents’ basement again.
I love my parents. I hate basements.
It’s dark, and you never know what time of day it is. It kills my sleep schedule. I don’t really have my own space.
But it’s free and I get to hang out with the cat all day. So I’m not complaining.
I’m just dedicating my summer blog template to my basement lifestyle.
