I also heart Lawrence

When I moved to Larryville for college, I wrote a list of things I liked about Wichita.
But now I’m moving back in a week, so it’s time to write a similar list for Lawrence.
Things that I will not miss about Lawrence
- Frat guys
- “That guy” in the newsroom, the only person in the world that everyone hates (coincidentally, he used to be a frat guy)
- Loud parties when I’m trying to sleep
- The overly self-righteous liberal nutjobs who make the rest of us liberals look bad
- Homework, term papers and group projects
- Johnson County SUVs taking all the good parking spots
Things I will miss about Lawrence
- All the great restaurants (favorites: India Palace, La Parrilla, Mad Greek, Pizza Shuttle, Vermont St. BBQ, Yello Sub, Zen Zero)
- The hippies
- Working on campus
- The hippies
- The nutty commercials for local businesses (”Dr. Lenahan. Dr. Lenahan! Dr. Lenahan!!!,” auto shop employees dressed up as Austin Powers characters for no apparent reason, Broadband Man being generally odd)
- Flirty cashiers at World Market
- Perkins Restaurant, for being open all night and for getting much better waitresses this year (the old ones were crap)
- The smoking ban
- The smoking ban
- The smoking ban
- The hippies
- All the other awesome people who are not hippies
You have a Mad Greek? I officially am jealous.

norway has a smoking ban and i miss it terribly when i am in england. especially in restaurants, but also in clubs. smoking and food do not blend well together!

Though we’ve never actually met, I’m pretty sure your stalking me. First I go to KU, and then you show up. After which I move to Wichita, now your coming down too. But rest assured, there’s room enough in this bustling metropolis for the both of us.
It seems to me that Wichita gets a bad rap and Lawrence gets a free pass on the “cool town” judgment meter, and that’s just not right. I’m glad somebody else notices the sweet aspects of the ‘Ta and the dumbness of some stuff in Larryville.

You cannot tell me, Honestly and with a straight face, that you will miss the payless furniture commercials. It simply is not possible.
