I watched the Kansas/Iowa State football game from home today. Okay, so I tuned in halfway through the fourth quarter. (Shut up. If I were a real fan, I’d be sitting in the student section instead of on my couch.)
We were behind, but I knew we’d catch up. Even though I don’t usually watch them play, I have faith in my team. And we did catch up. And then we went into overtime. And then we won.
And it was awesome.

“I need more cowbell” was a category during Double Jeopardy on today’s college championship episode of Jeopardy.
And I knew every answer, err, question.
Awesome.

- I spent twice as much on groceries as usual. Why can’t I survive on ramen like other college students? Why must I eat the expensive garbage? Actually, I think it’s that Quinton and I are both eating more now that it got so cold.
- I Netflixed the first season of Northern Exposure. I have to resort to renting a fifteen-year-old TV series because VH1 is now the I Love the 80s channel, Bravo is the West Wing channel, Nick at Nite is airing shows I actually remember seeing the first time they aired, and Lost is only on once a week.
- At work, I attempted to learn more about both Flash and DOM and then I gave up and decided to do things my way. I got props from Jesse, one of our online producers, for the changes I made, so I’m happy. The station director is happy too. And then I fixed an odd problem we were having in Firefox on Windows that even the old developers couldn’t (?) fix. Of course, I peaked too early in the week, and now I have nothing to work on (besides those things I’d like to keep putting off).
- I took a really good nap today.
- I made Quinton buy me a (dual control!) heated mattress pad and I love it. I’ve never been able to get/stay warm enough at night in the winter, and with my mysterious joint pain, I’d always wake up stiff and sore. But this week, I feel great. Well, relatively.
- I bought more yarn because I’m still on the knitting kick. I keep looking for more complex patterns, but I end up making scarves. I guess now I’ll have one to match every outfit? I need at least a black one and a brown one. I might give the rest away.
- I still need a vacation. I looks like Thanksgiving break will be spent doing homework.
- It’s a good thing that Dad bought stock in Target. I’ve started doing most of my grocery shopping at the SuperTarget because they have the best frozen food section in the world. And Choxie.

I’m taking the GRE tomorrow.
It’s going to kick my ass.
I started studying, uh, yesterday.
Conclusion: My vocabulary isn’t good enough, despite the “ooh, nice big word, Katie”-type mocking I encounter in everyday conversation. And math? Five years ago, I kicked ass on my IB and AP calculus exams, and promptly forgot everything I know about math, apparently.
Pray for me.

We’ve been talking about finding ways to jump on the podcast bandwagon in the newsroom. (And I’ve been quietly ranting that we need to make sure we’re doing this for non-bandwagon reasons, and I think they’re listening.)
Then I had a dream this week about trying to set up KUJH-TV video podcasts. I’m working even in my dreams.
I get a vacation soon, right?
