Meow, Part II

Uppity Windows users, please ignore this post.

So my computer is happily upgraded, no bugs, no crashes yet (well, a minor crash when trying to View Info on a Jabber contact, but I wasn’t able to replicate it).

Tiger is neat. So far, I’m having the most fun with RSS in Safari. I’m in the process of bookmarking all the feeds I could possibly consume, and then I think I’ll sit and crankily ponder how to mark feeds as read.

iChat’s Jabber support opens up the possibility of talking to MSN/Yahoo/etc. users in iChat (although I’m sticking to Adium for various reasons). It still annoys me that iChat insists on having AIM/.Mac, Bonjour, and Jabber buddy lists as separate windows.

Spotlight is supercool, if not superfast.

Widgets are fun and incredibly handy. Because of the weather and calendar widgets, I’ve managed to get rid of a couple 3rd-party apps that had the same functionality, but took up precious space in my menu bar.

So should you upgrade? If these features would make a big difference to you, yes. If you’re picky about stability, probably not yet. Like I said, I haven’t had any problems yet, but I’ve only been running Tiger for a couple hours.

I’m quite pleased with the upgrade, though. Considering the $69 student price, I think I got a very good deal.

Update: I hate the new Mail.app icon.
