Meow, Part II

Uppity Windows users, please ignore this post.

So my computer is happily upgraded, no bugs, no crashes yet (well, a minor crash when trying to View Info on a Jabber contact, but I wasn’t able to replicate it).

Tiger is neat. So far, I’m having the most fun with RSS in Safari. I’m in the process of bookmarking all the feeds I could possibly consume, and then I think I’ll sit and crankily ponder how to mark feeds as read.

iChat’s Jabber support opens up the possibility of talking to MSN/Yahoo/etc. users in iChat (although I’m sticking to Adium for various reasons). It still annoys me that iChat insists on having AIM/.Mac, Bonjour, and Jabber buddy lists as separate windows.

Spotlight is supercool, if not superfast.

Widgets are fun and incredibly handy. Because of the weather and calendar widgets, I’ve managed to get rid of a couple 3rd-party apps that had the same functionality, but took up precious space in my menu bar.

So should you upgrade? If these features would make a big difference to you, yes. If you’re picky about stability, probably not yet. Like I said, I haven’t had any problems yet, but I’ve only been running Tiger for a couple hours.

I’m quite pleased with the upgrade, though. Considering the $69 student price, I think I got a very good deal.

Update: I hate the new Mail.app icon.

My copy of Tiger is riding around town on a FedEx delivery truck (a day early!) and I’m skipping class to compulsively refresh the FedEx tracking page and wait for it to arrive.

Eee. So excited.

Update: It’s HERE. Eeee.

But I still feel guilty

We were out of normal milk, so I had to have chocolate milk on my cereal. Had to. No choice in the matter.

Don’t tell my mom.

The forms were filled out, the parents were pleaded with, my our lease application has been accepted, and Quinton and I are moving in together in August.

The plan is never to live with another female who’s not a relative ever again. Because seriously, girls are fucking nuts.

There are few things in life more tedious than sitting through a class-mandated Dreamweaver tutorial. Having taught tech tutorials to journalism students before, I have nothing but sympathy for our geeky workshop leader. I hope he gets paid good money to drone endlessly to blank-faced students and staff all day.

Also, I have spotted his iPod holster, and rather than listen to his perfectly intelligible explanation of Code and Design views, I’m pondering what’s on his iPod Photo.

Holy crap. So, does this mean they’ll bundle Creative Suite 2 and Studio MX into one monstrously expensive package that everyone can continue to pirate? [via macrumors]
