Today, being back in Wichita for the holiday with relatively little to do, I decided to take my sisters out shopping and to see Love Actually.
Now, my dear roommate Sammy reportedly cried all through the movie when she saw it, and I attributed this to the fact that she’s a romantic sap. But since, under the cold, sarcastic, and sometimes clownish exterior, I am a terrible romantic sap myself, I’d wager that I, in fact, out cried Sammy.
I suspect my sisters now think I’m quite the emotional lunatic.
Which is, of course, true.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to wash all the salt off my glasses.

I’ve heard the theory that you know when you’re finally “over” a past relationship when your former flame’s birthday passes and you don’t even notice it.
Walking to class today, bundled up to stay safe from the below-freezing weather, I was flipping through my journal and it amazes me how only a month or two ago, I was still writing whole entries about Justin. But not since then.
We used to keep in touch online at least every few days, but I haven’t heard from him since a couple weeks ago, when I turned down his invitation to hang out and watch TV. But I hadn’t noticed the absence until today.
Today, when I realized my birthday had come and gone without a word from him. And I guess I find that to be a bit of a relief.

After some consideration, my roommates have decided that I’m the least responsible of the four of us.
At first I objected. But it’s true.
My excuse is that my roommates are exceptionally responsible for college students.
