When one of my roommates saw my We Are Not All Jerks shirt, I think she almost cried.
And not out of happiness.
And some days I wonder how it came to be that I live with three religious conservatives.
And how it is possible that 90% of the time, we get along fine.

Okay, so yesterday, I bought stock in a whole bunch of random blogs that I don’t even read [one of them isn't even in English] on BlogShares. Why? Because it felt risky and exciting. And today, I am pleased to see that all of them increased in value! Even mine, by a very, very small amount.
So, go buy stock in my blog, because it’s only a penny a share, and hell, it can’t go down any further. Hey, Andrew Juby did, and I’m sure he doesn’t regret it.
You, uh, don’t regret it, right Juby?
Ahem.
Anyway, if anyone buys stock in Here In Katie’s Head, I promise to also buy stock in your blog. It may not be a lot of stock [don't know how much cash I have left], but I will buy some.
And no, I’m not taking this too seriously. I’m having quite a lot of silly fun.

I don’t know how quickly the word is spreading about BlogShares, but it’s worth a look.
Basically, it’s a stock-trading site for weblogs [all in good fun, not to be taken overly seriously]. And I guess the starting value is based partly on the value of the blogs you link to based on their popularity.
Here’s my beef: You have to have a blog that’s listed on weblogs.com when it updates. And most of the blogs I link aren’t. It’s easy enough to ping weblogs.com when you use MovableType, but a hassle if you’re on something like Blogger that doesn’t automattically ping.
I suppose you could use the ping form on weblogs.com to get it to index your site once, and then you’d be listed and your blog would show up on BlogShares…but I’m not sure about the updating.
Eh, it’s still the alpha version anyway. Check it out though, it’s a neat concept.
[I am also curious to know if it will be kept 100% secret what blogs I am investing in, because I don't want it to appear that if I invest in a stupid blog, I am endorsing them. I just want a profit, okay?]
[Other note: MT waaaaay fucked up on me last night. I think it was my host...doing...something mysterious. Anyway, it's fixified now.]

Our SHD [Scholarship Hall Director, like our house mom] just told me that I’m her favorite lunch cook.
I have completed the next step in my Win Them Over With Food campaign to take over the world.

I can hear everyone at the party down the hill at the frathouse cheering every time the KU basketball team makes a shot that ties up the game against Duke.
Currently, 7:58 remaining in the 2nd half and we’re tied at 56.
I’m hoping we just get a nice lead and then I won’t have to hear any more cheering until the game is over.
Because it’s messing with my head when I’m trying to study.
Update: We won. I can hear cheering from three floors below me, from the guys’ hall across the street, the frat house down the hall, the apartments inbeween us and the frathouse, the parking lots, the bar to the northeast of us, the sorority on the other side…holy freaking crap they get excited when we make it to the finals.

I am the proud holder of two fabulous tickets to the April 12 Guster concert at Liberty Hall.
And damn they were expensive.
I missed the last time they came anywhere near when I was on a stupid &%$#&@ family trip to stupid &%$#&@ Branson.
So now I am quite excited. And so is Justin, because my second ticket is for him.
If you still want to go, hurry and get your tickets because they’d sold 197 tickets already when we [we = Sammy and I] bought our tickets yesterday. And I don’t want a repeat of the OKGO show with crying girls walking up and down the line outside the venue, begging for someone to scalp their ticket.
But it will probably happen anyway.
Because it’s an all-ages show.
You know, I didn’t wait 18 years to turn 18 just so they could then decide to make everything worth going to open to kids. Make those boogary little brats wait just like I did!
Uh, not that I am complaining about finally seeing one of my most favorite bands. Within walking distance, at that. I’ll put up with the brats.

HOLY FREAKING CRAP!
It’s abso-fucking-lutely GORGEOUS outside today. Seventy two degrees, sun shining, light breeze, lots of lovely people out and about, birds chirping, squirrels going psycho and chucking acorns at me.
And it’s just going to get colder all week. So we’ve got our windows open and it’s lovely. I’m enjoying it while I can.
And about those squirrels…well, I discovered when I moved up here that Lawrence squirrels are apparently allied with Wichita squirrels, who started launching acorns at my head about six years ago. Not quite sure what they have against me, but I suppose it may stem from the fact that my cat is a homicidal maniac and gets a kick out of bringing home fresh dead squirrels to the dog, who carries around their fluffy tails like trophies.
