Diet Coke doesn’t taste the same.

Diet Coke doesn’t taste at all the same when you’re sad and sleepy.

I need to get out of the house, out of the office, far away. Chicago is just ten days away. I should start packing…

Orange Juice and Oreos

Do you remember how you felt after your first kiss? The dizzy happiness, and you keep playing it over and over in your head. I feel like that right now, except you know what I feel that way about? ORANGE JUICE AND OREOS!

Seriously, I had orange juice and Oreos last night and it was so good, I can’t stop thinking about it.

AND NOW I’M OUT OF ORANGE JUICE. What am I supposed to use now? Milk? Blegh.

More about the charm…

More about the charm…

Identifying charcateristics of charmers:

  • They have cool shoes.
  • They’re undeniably sexy, but in an unconventional way.
  • They often have ecclectic tastes.
  • They like weird foods, weird combinations of foods.
  • They sometimes have unusual speech patterns.
  • They have a strong sense of self, personal style.
  • Some charmers are known for messy hair, but not all of them.
  • They have strong opinions and like to argue about them.
  • They sometimes hurt people emotionally either unknowingly or unintentionally.
  • They often have silly reasons for breaking off romantic involvements (I know of one who broke up with his girlfriend because he didn’t like the way she laughed).
  • They seem to know a lot of people.
  • It’s hard to tell if they’re being completely sincere sometimes.

My theory on The Charm

Ah, I hate explaining the charm. No one understands. Everyone has this quality, this thing that can make people just want to know them, be around them… But you can’t use the charm unless you know what it is.

Clever people find it, though. And once you got the charm, ain’t nothing can stop you.

Famous people got the charm.

Rich people got the charm.

Katie’s got a litte of the charm.

The charm isn’t a sexual thing. It’s not a loud personality. It’s something hard to explain. But once you’ve seen it, you know it.

I see the charm in people who don’t know they have it. They haven’t found it yet, but they have it. The kids who’ll grow up to be something really amazing, but are still in that ugly duckling phase… They’ll find their charm soon enough.

What’s really impressive is the people who have it and know how to turn it on and off like a lamp. One minute, he’s a normal person, just an average friend. The next minute, you wonder how you got to know someone so amazing as this. I admire these people. I fell in love with one once. He was a completely fascinating guy, always surprised me. I knew another guy with the charm. He was a heartbreaker. An amazing kisser, too, though I only kissed him twice, I think. Another charmer I know was one of those popular guys back in high school, and I imagine he still is in college now. He reeks of charm. I’ve known fewer female charmers. The one I knew the best was this girl who always got what she wanted, but it seemed like she always deserved it, so I can’t hold it against her.

Two charmers dating is a volitile mix. I saw that happen once. I suspect charmers attract each other, even though it never works.

So I’m looking for a guy with the charm, because it’s fun while it lasts. And the charm makes ordinary people seem so ordinary.

You know your coworkers love you when…

You know your coworkers love you when they plan an intervention for you.

They were waiting for me to get there, and demanded that I go see a doctor about my burn. I convinced them that it’s healing and that I’m fine, though. And it is healing and I am fine.
